Airtel and Reliance Jio, two of the largest telecom service providers in India, have declared that they will launch 5G services this year.

In the extensive spectrum auction that ended on August 1, Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea competed and submitted bids totaling Rs. 1.56 lakh crore.

The movers in introducing 5G services in India will be Airtel and Jio. The corporations will initially roll out 5G in a select number of cities nationwide.

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune are some of these.

One needs a 5G-capable smartphone or tablet to receive 5G connectivity. 9.7% of cellphones in use in India, according to a research, are 5G enabled.

The tariff plans will be similar to 4G, but they may increase to support 5G infrastructure and, of course, inflation.

For now, I don't expect much from it, as it's been years since we got 4G, but the speed is not much better than a good 3G network, so 5G will be at the level of good 4G.
